The vice-president of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, arrived in Malta this morning for a two day visit.
He was greeted at Malta International Airport by Education Minister Dolores Cristina and started his programme with a call on acting president George Hyzler at the Palace in Valletta.
This morning, he will also call on Speaker Louis Galea and will later visit the Chinese Cultural Centre in Valletta.
He will be touring the Grand Harbour this afternoon and will later call on Opposition leader Joseph Muscat.
Tomorrow, he is expected to be given the salute by the Armed Forces of Malta at the AFM Barracks in Luqa. He will call on Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi at Auberge de Castille later in the morning. The call will be followed with the signing of agreements between the two countries.
In the afternoon, the vice-president will be taken to Barrakka Gardens and later to Mdina.
