Coach Sven-Goran Eriksson has been told his job is safe by the Mexican football federation (FMF) despite a string of defeats in World Cup qualifying matches.
"Sven cannot have his head on a guillotine. He has to work with confidence and we are giving it to him. We are not threatening him, on the contrary we are giving him all the support he needs," said FMF president Justino Compean.
Eriksson's job had been under threat after his side lost to the US last week following defeats by Honduras and Jamaica in an earlier stage of the competition last year.
