The Gonezipn apologists are like the proverbial Angel's statue.
They have to keep smiling at all costs notwithstanding that they the nail in their stuck in their lower backs.

@ Simon Hili Don't you know why in Malta we can't protest any more? Didn't you hear what GattPM said lately, that the Parliament is not democratic? So you see, Malta is not democratic anymore, but we have a DICTATOR! @J Farrugia You suggested to Simon Farrugia to take a shower. You should take heed what GonziPN is telling you not to waste water, unless somebody is paying for your bills. Let’s hope that JPO (the environmental hero) will be there. Only then GonziPN will listen to the people. He wouldn't risk another division between the nation (sic. - should have read, another division in his own party).

@Carmel Borg: You can start right away. Stop buying only the cheapest of the cheapest produc ts. Stop buying instant coffee but instead buy fair traded coffee so the coffee farmers have an outcome! Start rallying to stop subsidies for agricultural goods so that the poor guys get a fair competition and not a competetion agains EU subsidised things. etc. YOU can help them and do something about it if you stop abusing them with your purchase behaviour!

How ridiculous are the comments of those pro-government apologists listed below. And with all the u-turns that Government has made over this issue (and loads of others: St.John's Cathedral issue) you are still blinded by your political faith. As if these issues are at all political. When are you people going to grow up and mature to the point that you're capable of saying things as they stand?

@ all PN & What's wrong in making a protest. Do we just want to sit and see protest in other countries and say, "look at them, they stand up for their rights!!" and we sit down passively?? It seems that making a protest against the government has become a crime for some!!!

It works in France. Mass public protest makes a difference there... then maybe it can here.

Protests in the EU are quite normal when the unions are fighthing for something. But here in Malta some people expect results without lifting a finger! They rather stay at home and expect others do protest for them. Only in Malta!!!

@John Zammit-revision from Oct08. And if not? The so called 11 unions led by the Labour GWU would have been digging in water. Lets grow up and work together for more work .

@ J. Farrugia and Keith Davis What's wrong with taking to the streets and showing the world that we will not take everything lying down. If such demonstrations are the order of the day in civilized places like England, France, Italy, Germany and the US - WHAT MAKES MALTA SO DIFFERENT? I'll tell you what - lambs like your ilk who will not lift a finger to protest.

while out for the rally switch off everything so u won't waste any electricity, don't buy flags, hot dogs and beer and save for your bill otherwise its a really useless rally for you. Its really sad that they can't do much other than protesting. the new political season is far far away from reality, some people want it the very old way of protests and strikes.

@carmel borg...the main union in Malta, the GWU is one of the groups who makes part of the pro-immigration camp. they are so happy with the situation that they even produced a document in order to develop integration programs and demand rights for africans workers!
beside the fact, that a protest with an immigration theme wouldn't solve a thing. what is needed is people voting for the right contestants next June!

Simon Hili had better take a shower to calm down. Walk for what? Are you going to inprove our lot by taking a walk down republic street? If in the affermative I will be there with you. Will it bring further work? If yes I wil be 'spalla ma spalla mieghek ha ngibu x-xoghol'. But if this is all spokes in the wheels then .... get a life. There is no going back now.

Take us all to the streets! It's about time the unions start showing their teeth to this arrogant government who's running roughshod over its citizens. Let us show the whole world that we are not all lambs oblivious of the fact that we are being herded to the slaughter.
