The fire brigade was called to the Hal Far detention centre late this afternoon to put out a fire caused during fighting between migrants from Nigeria and Ghanain groups, informed sources said.

The disturbance was caused in the area where the migrants are housed in tents.

The situation was controlled by the staff of the Detention Service and members of the AFM.

Some 13 Nigerians were treated for minor injuries.
