Malta signs up to UK training programme for doctors

A memorandum of understanding has been signed with The UK Foundation Programme Office to introduce the its programme for house physicians as from July.

This is a two-year structured programme of workplace based learning for house physicians that forms a bridge between medical school and specialty training.

The programme aims to provide a safe, well-supervised environment for doctors to put into practice what they learned in medical school.

Health Parliamentary Secretary Joe Cassar told a news conference this morning that Malta was committed to ensuring that its junior doctors had the generalist medical knowledge and skills to meet the needs of the modern Maltese healthcare system.
