Over 400 applications in under a week
The resources authority received over 400 applications for subsidies on alternative energy devices in less than a week since the scheme was launched, Resources Minister George Pullicino said.
Already 247 applications for solar water heaters, 147 for photo-voltaic cells and 12 for double glazing have been received under the scheme, which started on Monday and will run for a year.
Those who installed systems before February 15 can still apply for assistance by May 15. This does not apply for those who installed double glazing.
The measure was announced in the last budget with a €2 million grant and applies for solar water heaters, photovoltaic panels, insulation and double glazing.
Applicants will receive up to two thirds of the purchase price of a solar water heater for a maximum of €460.
It is estimated that 4,600 families will benefit.

The Que for PV alternate energy wasn't because it is viable or not the main reason was that the Maltese condemmed citizen doesnt know where he stands with this gov .there are no long term policies, the main reason was that only 1 wk was available for the pv rebates of only 200 families and the information was that they will be removed and not reinstated so we are in limbo until the the minister declares something else. It is only viable if the gov wakes up and start to invest with the maltese citizen by paying real alternate energy bonuses to the citizen, what sort of policy is this.we hear it is going to be 2:1 in malta in spain it is 3:1 in germany even4:1 . Why in this damned country gov is scratching its head to give the citizen millions which are going to be lost if not utilized and ends up red faced paying it back many times over in fines for not reaching the emmision targets. why is this gov not pro active and getting the satisfied citizen on his band wagon, why is the incentive not like other EU countries that are getting results.

If you miss the deadline, you'd be best using a home improvement quote comparison site such as http://www.localquoter.net. More of them are springing up in the UK and they are providing a useful resource.

Why did the applicants have to queue up for such a long time, could not these applications have been made online or through the postal service/ Oh surely not, in that way we could not have footage on the news telling us how great is our governemnt
