Consideration ought to be given to the structural integrity of the bridge which crosses Manwel Dimech Street in Sliema. There are signs which give the maximum permissible load on the bridge but, unfortunately, they are being constantly ignored.

As a prospective Nationalist candidate for the Sliema local council, I feel that our hard-working council should address this matter with the prompt urgency it requires. The collapse of the bridge or the dislodging of some stones from it may kill or injure somebody.

I suggest that a width restriction be placed on the bridge and, at the same time, a parking bay be converted into a rubbish bin station, a suggestion made to me by residents.
