Wagamama comes to Malta

Wagamama, the chain of award-winning pan-Asian inspired noodle restaurants, is to open a restaurant in St Julians in summer.

The local company which has been awarded the franchise is Noodles UN Limited.

Set up in London in April 1992, Wagamama has 37 international restaurants and 65 UK restaurants.

There are franchises in Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, The Netherlands, Turkey, Australia, Cyprus, Dubai, Egypt, New Zealand, Switzerland and Greece. The restaurant chain is also present in the US and Kuwait.

In UK alone the chain has 2,295 employees.

The chain's many awards in the UK include being voted "Best Company" at the Retailer's Retail Awards 2008, "Most Popular London Restaurant" in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 as voted for by Zagat (people who compile restaurant guides) readers,

"Official Super Brand" in 2007 and 2008, as voted for by the Super Brand Council, and "Official Cool Brand" in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 and 2008 as voted for by the Cool Brand Council

The restaurant chain sells 13,063 yaki sobas (fried noodles dish) and 12 tons of noodles each week while 1,500 portions of edamame (baby soybeans in the pod) are eaten every day.

The company's philosophy is "to combine fresh and nutrition food in an elegant yet simple setting with helpful, friendly service and value for money".

Wagamama.com is advertising job vacancies for a floor manager, a head chef, a sous chef and a restaurant manager for the restaurant in St Julians.
