Żabbar brothers held over drugs

The police are holding two brothers after they were allegedly found in possession of drugs and objects related to drug abuse in Żabbar yesterday.

The Drug Squad had been keeping one of the brothers, a 27-year-old from Żabbar, under surveillance after it received information that he was dealing in drugs, the police said.

The man was confronted near the Żabbar bus terminus so he could be searched but he resisted and tried to run away after assaulting the police. However, the man was caught and 16 sachets of cocaine and nine containing heroin were found in his possession, the police said.

The police said they also arrested his 42-year-old brother who was found in possession of objects related to drug use.

Magistrate Tonio Micallef Trigona was informed and launched an inquiry with the assistance of a team of experts.
