Injured jockey's condition improves
Sarah Borg, 22, is recovering well after suffering a head injury during a horse race on February 1.
Jockey Sarah Borg, who was injured during a race earlier this month, is slowly improving and when she emerged from her induced coma she asked about the horse she was riding, her father said.
"She remembers the race because, from all her horses, she asked for that particular one," Joseph Borg said.
The young woman, considered one of Malta's best female jockeys, has five horses. Ms Borg, the daughter of former Maltasong chairman Grace Borg, fell from her mare, Silence Caresse, during an afternoon race on February 1. Witnesses said she did not move after the fall and was suffering a head trauma.
Sounding positive, Mr Borg said Silence Caresse was his daughter's newest horse: "The horse was not feeling well the week before, so Sarah did not have much time to train racing her".
Mr Borg said his daughter was released from intensive care last week and has since been recovering at Mater Dei Hospital's Neurosurgical Ward.
"Her situation has improved reasonably," he said. She was breathing normally without any help and was not even on drips. Although she can move the left part of her body normally, she still finds it somewhat tough to move the right part due to the injury to the left part of her head.
"She is well on the way to recovery although we are in for the long haul," he said. Mr Borg said the family was happy with how she was doing, especially since they initially feared the worst.
He said it was now a question of waiting to see how the recovery proceeded, although the fact that Ms Borg was young and in good shape should help her.

I am happy to hear that Sarah Borg is slowly recovering from the coma. I hope that she recovers completely, and that she can take her own decision about whether to ride again, whether to go to college, and so on.

I like to share this story with you, Sarah.
There once was a farmer who owned a horse. And one day the horse ran away. All the people in town came to console him of the loss. " Oh I don't know " said the farmer " maybe it's a bad thing ,maybe it's not "
A few days later, the horse returned to the farm accompanied by 20 other horses. All came to congratulate him. " Now you have a stable full horses ". " Oh! I don't know, maybe it's a good thing and maybe it's not "
A few days later, the farmer's son was riding one of the horses. The horse got wild, threw him off and broke his leg. Some came to console him " Oh I don't know " said the farmer "maybe it's a bad thing and maybe not "
A few days later, the King declared war and called all able boddied men. They came to town and called hundreds of young men, except for the farmer's son." Now I know" said the farmer "that it was a good thing my horse ran away."
Its hard to know exactly why things happen.

This is one lady with guts – when a person is that brave and mentally strong, he/she can overcome most obstacles.
I am sure that Ms. Borg will soon be out of hospital and living life to the full again.
Good luck to her.
