Greece the first stop on Chiara's pre-festival tour
Chiara performing What If We.
Chiara will tonight perform Malta's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest during the Greek national final in Athens, her first chance to start wooing Europeans with her song What If We.
She will be a guest star, alongside Hadise from Turkey, Christina Metaxas from Cyprus, Petr Elfimov from Belarus, Andrea Demirovic from Montenegro and last year's Greek representative Kalomira.
Nicknamed The Voice, Chiara is slowly building up the promotion for her entry and another trip, this time to Belgium, is planned for next week, followed by Bosnia and Herzegovina the week after that.
Chiara has the experience and stamina to know what to expect, having been through this process twice already in 1998 and 2005, eventually placing third and second respectively.
"Luckily my mother can take care of my daughter Ebony when I go on these trips," she said, before packing her bags to fly to Athens.
Chiara will go on to represent Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow. She will first have to compete in the Eurovision semi-final on May 12, before reaching the final.
The European Broadcasting Union is seeking to abolish the current system of 100 per cent televoting for the final night on May 16. In all probability, during the heads of delegation meeting in March, the EBU will choose to have a system where on the final night the winning Eurovision song will be chosen through 50 per cent televoting and 50 per cent jury. Full televoting will be retained for the two semi-finals.
This is intended to minimise the element of neighbourly bloc voting, which has become a bone of contention in recent years and has split the festival into East and West.
Meanwhile, PBS, which organised the national festival for the first time, has finally released the judges' points for the 20 entries that competed in the national final on February 7.

Did someone say looks like an opera singer, well maybe she'll do better singing opera, but this number is a sure looser.. wait & see if she get any points i'll eat my hat! The Italians had the right idea because they know damn well that there is no hope for any europeans, its the eastern block thats taken over, and poor old Malta got no one to vote it, what a waste especially now in this recession, the odds of getting in are very low indeed, still there is no harm is trying AGAIN! its not my money and let us not forget that the Malta team need a free holiday too(LOL). Well there, to whoever said Chiara deserves much better .... she is the one persisting to go into this competition and we, the maltese televoters persists in sending the same person instead of giving the chance to other young talents. We are loosers from the start in everything. How can we widen our horizons and gain experience to maybe one day do more !We should know better of how to 'waste' our money instead of sending a 'selected Maltese committee' for a European tour each year !

The picture looks more of a concert or some opera singer in both cases i hate it.Where are the energetic Maltese wanabes, it looks too stiff and old fashion to compete with all the other younger Russians who i would imagine have one or two vodkas for some Dutch courage.

I don't know where I;m going...but I sure know where I've been......
Hanging on the promises and the songs of yesterday,
But I've made up my mind...
I ain't wasting no more time,
Here I go again
Lyrics by Whitesnake....sounds rather relevant here.
Sending our best talent to beg for votes is rather deragotary. Chiara deserves better!

Ih my God gives us a break, the Maltese are up to their old tricks again, once bitten twice shy apparently not in this case, what a waste. Clyde Hawkes
