Monopoly Malta to be launched in Australia

Monopoly Malta will be launched in Australia this week, with popular pop tenor Ludwig Galea heading the campaign.

Mr Galea will perform a series of concerts for Maltese-Australians in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane between February 21 and March 7.

The Maltese version of the internationally-acclaimed board game will be sold during the concerts.

Sabrina Mulligan, the director of Gamebox, the company that came up with Monopoly Malta, thinks the game is ideal for Maltese-Australians and their families because it gives them a chance to relive their memories and recall their favourite local traditions.

"The customised Chance and Community Chest cards promoting some of our all-time favourite traditions will surely bring back fond memories to the Maltese who left the islands years ago.

Also, the fact that the board game has an English translation will make the game popular with second and third generation Maltese who might not be fluent in our language," Ms Mulligan said.

During the concerts, Mr Galea will perform a number of songs from his repertoire including traditional Maltese tracks and his new song Il-Bagalja ta' l-Awstralja, composed by Philip Vella and written by Joe Chircop.

As he celebrates Monopoly Malta's arrival in Australia, the Monopoly Malta team will be awaiting the second consignment of Monopoly Malta due to arrive in the first week of March.
