The two BOV Premier League matches, scheduled for yesterday afternoon at the National Stadium, were called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
The matches from the second round of the championship, Valletta-Qormi and Sliema-Birkirkara, were postponed due to the conditions of the pitch after the recent heavy rainfalls, the Malta FA said in a statement.
The matches will be moved to a new date to be announced later, it added.
This was the second Premier League programme to be postponed this year because of the bad weather which has hit the country hard this winter.
The matches Hibs-Marsaxlokk and Valletta-Birkirkara were called off on January 24 for the same reasons as rain rendered the pitch at the stadium in Ta' Qali unplayable.
Meanwhile, there should be no disruptions in the Premier League calendar this afternoon as the two matches, Marsaxlokk-Tarxien and Ħamrun-Msida, are scheduled for the Tedesco Stadium where an all-weather artificial turf pitch was laid last year.
Among the other sport hit hard by the inclement weather yesterday was rugby.
In fact, no matches from the MRFU competitions were played at the Marsa ground.
