Muscat reaches out to all
I felt the speech by Labour leader Joseph Muscat at the annual party conference, so full of optimism and promise, was not solely directed at the party delegates but is showing direction to the whole nation, with facts and sound proposals for evaluation and positive consideration.
Dr Muscat's vision certainly has wide appeal. It proposes sound and fair governance, free from dubious dealings, a transparent and just administration with equal opportunities, for everyone irrespective of creed, sexual orientation, colour or status, giving a fair hearing even to minorities and those without a voice.
Dr Muscat impressed me with the faith he has in our youth and the encouragement he wants to give them, through education, to reach their goals and not to lag behind. His thoughts on consumer rights, public health, freedom of expression, constitutional and civil rights, and the environment are truly commendable and worth considering by the party in power, since Dr Muscat not only pointed out facts regarding various issues, but also made serious proposals.
Dr Muscat may be young, but he certainly has foresight and vision and is continuously showing that he is forward-looking, progressive as well as in his new, revolutionary way of doing politics locally.

The LP has always shown a positive attitude where Malta’s interest and future is concerned. Litany of gloom and doom is in the minds of all those who are so full of arrogance that will not accept constructive criticism, suggestions and valid proposals.
As for Nay sayers, what’s wrong in having nay sayers especially in hot environmental items like the Mistra Bay Development, the Xaghra l-Hamra Golf course development, and only last week, St. John’s Cathedral Museum proposed development. Better to have naysayers than yesmen especially in getting the best deals for Malta both locally and abroad.
By the way you tend to have memory blanks since even Dr. Lawrence Gonzi is having his share of Nay Sayers, so much so that he will not give a chance for a free vote to his backbenchers as was the case in the St. John’s Cathedral Museum debate.
If there are any instruments of negativity about these are certainly fruit of a growing arrogance within the Gonzipn whose leader Dr. Gonzi himself declared to attending journalists : “Jien il-Prim Ministru, jien il-Gvern”. “ I am the Prime Minister, I govern”, practically ‘L’Etat c’est moi!’

Age is not a factor. You ppl need to get over this !
Its all about vision !
However, i do agree that the proof of the pudding is in its eating. And i think that Dr. Muscat's actions have been in line with his words in the past months.
So instead of being blind and hypocrites... lets just be objective. I once had faith in the present government but over the past years, they have lost it.

@ MR Martinelli
Although you say you live in Canada, you write as the local PN "holier than thou brigade"; everything with PN is good, everything with PL is bad. Everyonce in a while, stop being boring and give us some "good" news from Canada too.

It is good for a (long waited) change, that an LP leader shows signs of positive attitude as opposed to a litany of doom and gloom emanating from the MLP, now the LP.
It is however very difficult for Joseph to drag along the old wood comprised of nay sayers from the not so long ago past.
Joseph's other problem is, that while he preaches positive attitudes, at the first opportunity he is an instrument of negativity if an initiative is taken by other than his Labour organization. Also he shows very little influence on his MEPs when the latter voted to allow Guantanamo terrorist suspects to be relocated in Europe and hence, possibly Malta.
What kind of policy does he really have? First he tells us he is concerned about illegal immigrants who are mostly victims of poverty and own government abuse, but then he allows his MEPs to vote for harbouring suspected terrorists making Malta a possible nest for criminals.

This guy is very easily impressed by one and all. He is young and of a tender age. That's why. I hear them say that the proof of the pudding is in its eating. I only hope he will never disappoint you.
