Temperatures are expected to go lower in the next three days, reaching their lowest peak for this period on Monday, the Meteorological Office said.
This was due to the current cold and unstable air with low freezing levels.
The Met Office said that WNW winds during the night of St Valentine’s were expected to be moderate to rather strong and this could create a wind chill factor of less than the expected lowest temperature of 4oC. Winds were expected to decrease to within the light to moderate bracket by Monday.
The lowest February temperature was that of 1956 when the temperature at Luqa Airport registered 1.7 oC.
