Hospital's sterling work

During a time of such intense criticism being directed towards the Mater Dei Hospital, I'd like to take the opportunity to point out the sterling work done day in day out by the hospital staff.

Having had a member of my family recently staying at Mater Dei for some time due to an emergency procedure, I cannot but praise the staff's dedication and professionalism. We have never been shown anything other than courtesy by the nurses and orderlies and the level of care that was afforded to the patient was excellent, be it during admission at the Emergency Department, at the Intensive Care Unit as well as in the surgical wards.

Not only was the medical care excellent, but we found the environment of the hospital to be scrupulously clean and well-maintained as any hospital should be.

These people perform a very difficult job with impeccable professionalism under what is sometimes extreme stress and in a situation of staff shortage, and I'd like to thank them for the indispensable role they perform in our society. I'd like to extend my thanks especially to the nursing and medical staff at the S4 and S5 ward for the excellent pre- and post-operative care as well as for their courtesy and patience when dealing with concerned, and on occasion panicking, family members.
