I agree with you about the double glazing reduce the noise, but what about the vibration caused by the wind turbines how can you explain that?

Why we should keep the windows closed and switch on an A/C if there is a nice fresh breeze coming from the outside? After all if we don`t use an A/C it`s a first step of saving energy.

Re: How other countries promote the renewable energy it`s amazing and you are perfectly right.
Although we do not have their size of land to collect the energy, we are neither have their size of population but we can have something similar on a smaller scale.

Double glazing would not only help reduce the noise, but it will also save you money from losing heat. And if you have aluminum windows, they do cut noise down.

One should make a good research and a feasible study regarding the wind turbines for renewable energy. Is the wind turbines the most efficient there is in the market? Do we have enough wind speed for it daily? Has any realised the noise they do? In my opinion we should invest in the solar energy then wind the solar is much more a constant source on these islands then wind, one should have a look on the internet at the projects done by parabolic mirror and a sterling engine.

THe reasons is that these are extremely serious matters. Not a small project like ruining valleys, garigues and other jewels this country possesses. We're talking about a micro wind turbine here

Of course there needs to be some control and regulation...... I was at HomeMate in Mriehel yeaterday and the micro wind turbine there ( though maybe a tiny bit bigger than micro ) was making a huge amount of noise.

Now imagine if your next door neighbour puts one of those things up on his roof near your bedroom window.

I think that MEPA has grown too big for its shoes and should be done away with.
At least we may stop having two weights and two measures depending upon who you are not to say allegations through the grapevine or corruption.

Why only two were approved? And who are these two?
Are they private or organisations?
What is wrong with installing a micro wind turbine on one's own property at his expence and get some energy from the wind, as well as from the sun or any other source for that matter?
Why should MEPA decide who can and who cannot install a micro wind turbine?
Is this the same policy of the EU?

Why do wind turbines and green energy sources have to go through all the burocracy and MEPA stumbling blocks when the government and everyone is harping about the need to diversify energy production to renewable energy?

How much has one to pay for such applications including possible architects fees?

Isn't this the way to encourage investment in renewable energy?

And while on the subject, can EneMalta inform us what frequencies will the smart meters including the water meters use?

I am asking because the electricity meters will be using the electricity distribution network to send their data while the water meter will send its data to the electricity meter, so it means they will both use radio frequencies that may interfere with broadcast, safety communications, and all sorts of transmissions, including on radio amateur frequencies.

It is worth remembering that radio amateurs provide emergency radio communications when all else fails, and they have been subjected to very strong interference on Repeater R7 by the Melita Cable system.

Let's hope that the Government doesn't buy the meters before they are tested and confirmed that they do not cause interference to any radio services.

MEPA - take your time. There is no urgency in getting projects approved.

I cannot understand why the PM did not conclude his PQ reply by making an urgent appeal to MEPA to decide on these applications if we really mean business for renewable energy. People are afraid to make such applications because there is so much red tape in getting things done.

If PPCD has the authority to establish tight deadlines for applicants to reply to their queries, how come citizens do not have the same rights to request a decision from the authorities within tight deadlines too.

Hoc come authorities have more rights than citizens when these authroities function with taxpayers' money.
