A 17-year-old boy from Kalkara was remanded in custody today after he pleaded not guilty to having stolen tools from a room in Kalkara and 60 racing pigeons in two thefts from Kalkara and Vittoriosa with a total value of €2,561.

He also denied damaging a door in a block of flats, handling stolen property and breaching the conditions of a previous sentence given in 2005 when he was convicted of theft and holding a person against his will.

The court heard that he was caught red handing stealing the tools in Kalkara. Police Inspector Jesmond Borg, prosecuting, said the boy did not have drug problems but his habit was stealing.
