Musical hit songs in anniversary show

Beyond the Barricade - 10th Anniversary Show will be produced at the Manoel Theatre next weekend in collaboration with Masquerade Theatre Company.

Now in its 10th record-breaking year, Beyond the Barricade, billed as the most successful and popular touring production of its kind, plays the length and breadth of the UK with a special 10th anniversary edition of the show.

Beyond the Barricade consists of a concert portrayal of the greatest songs in musical theatre, all performed totally live!

Recreating original West End/Broadway musical hit songs, the cast of past principal performers from Les Misérables celebrate their anniversary with a two-hour show featuring many of the songs that have made Beyond the Barricade so successful over the past 10 years.

Andy Reiss, David Fawcett, Katie Leeming and Becci Morrell, together with their own ensemble of talented musicians, perform songs from The Phantom of the Opera, Chess, The Lion King, Blood Brothers, Miss Saigon, Jekyll and Hyde and many others, climaxing with a spectacular finale from, of course, Les Misérables!

Mr Fawcett and Mr Reiss devised Beyond the Barricade after appearing in the Manchester and London casts of Les Misérables. Mr Fawcett played the lead role of Jean Valjean in both productions and Mr Reiss, who will also be playing the main role in Masquerade's upcoming musical Jekyll and Hyde, played most of the male characters, including Enjolras and Valjean and still remains the only person to take on the job of being the show's resident director and perform in it at the same time.

Ms Leeming joined Beyond the Barricade after playing the lead role of Eponine in the West End production of Les Misérables, Ms Morrell is a new acquisition to the tour.

Beyond the Barricade - 10th Anniversary Show will be appearing at Manoel Theatre on February 13, 14, and 15 at 8 p.m. Tickets are available from the theatre box office on 2124 6389 or online at www.teatrumanoel.com.mt.
