The next June EP elections were just the Labour Party’s first step towards achieving electoral victory, party leader Joseph Muscat said when addressing the launch of the Forum Zghazagh Laburisti branch in Birzebbuga.
Dr Muscat said that the June elections were a difficult trial for the party since it had lost the last general elections. So enthusiasm was required for the PL to be able to meet the widest spread of people possible in the coming days.
“We need enthusiasm and initiative,” he said adding he was proud of the Birzebbuga branch because it was willing to work as were other young people all over the Maltese islands.
He said that it was the Labour Party’s beliefs which made it different and supporters had to again start talking about such beliefs.
Everyone had a right to success and as long as Labourites were united in their belief, they could work to implement their vision, the Labour leader said.
He said that if supporters believed and worked the party would be successful. Success could only be achieved with hard work and this was the recipe which could lead the PL to victory on June 6.
