AN MEP candidates
Still smouldering from the bad performance of the last general election, Azzjoni Nazzjonali has launched its candidates for the forthcoming Europarliamentary elections. They are Josie Muscat, Malcolm Seychell and John Spiteri (who is not in the picture). Photo: Matthew Mirabelli

"My problem with AN is that they do nothing to show what they are proposing except for migration. "
Wrong. An are not against migration as you put it. They are against ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.
Illegal immigration is by far the biggest threat that Malta faces today. All the other problems can be solved with some effort and cooperation.
If illegal immigration were the AN's only agenda, it would be all the more reason for me to vote for AN. They will not be wasting their efforts on pretending to have solutions to the credit crunch, or stopping global warming or other issues over which Malta has no control.
But typical of those of your ilk who think that multi-culturalism is trendy, you obviously never read AN's manifesto. Neither do I suggest that you do. It contains such un-socialist suggestions such as dis-incentives for lazy people who prefer to live off welfare. Or measures to address the "single mother" syndrome.
The problem with trendy fads is what to do with them once they are trendy no longer??

Let's give a helping hand to this new political party. So far they are the only political party that will mean business in Brussells. all of us who are sick and tired of the current situation regarding clandestine immigration, should attend their activities when possible. Also to add the cherry to the cake we should vote for A.N'S candidates for mep's next june. At least if elected we will know what they are capable of doing. This will help us more to make our choices in four year's time during the general election.

Writing your message on your ballot paper will INVALIDATE your vote not as if you have abstained while at the same time it will deliver your message.

Just to show everbody that the Times reporters and photographers miss the wood for the trees: they preferred to focus on " smoked ribs" rather then on the three candidates!! John Spiteri was sitting next to Josie Muscat and I see no reason why he did not swing some 30 degrees in his seat and get a picture of the subject of the article - the 3 candidates!!
Dear reader, do you want more proof that the times has a hidden agenda!

Perhaps, if the times reported more than the measly paragraph for every ten press releases we issue - perhaps readers would be more informed. However it is gratifying to note that the citizens have began to see beyond the ploys of censorship and cheap propaganda.

@ Robert Callus- AN have tackled various important issues since the party was launched months ago, you should log on their website and read for yourself, as unfortunately you wont get a clear and honest picture about the party from the media.

Illegal Immigration should be everyones #1 prioroty. I have great respect for AN. This is coming from a PN supporter, who feel disfranchised from the PN when it comes to protecting the interest of our beloved country.

‘My problem with AN is that they do nothing to show what they are proposing except for migration. Honestly, I have no idea what their beliefs and proposals are on other issues’
Since inception AN were handling many very good issues (gay marriage- single parents abusing social system .. etc) somehow , they only talk about illegal immigrants.
Reasons: Gays and single parents are legible to VOTE while illegal immigrants aren’t, yet an easy scapegoat to use for as a scaremongering tool!

Let me see if I can get this stright. The other candidates from the PN and MLP all got at least seven paragraphs individually, and all that the Times could muster for the three AN candidates is two and a half measly lines? Not to mention a derogatory picture.
AN, regardless of the incessant brainwashing from the various media, rest assured that you will have my vote and the vote of many thousands of MAltese people.

My thoughts precisely A. Magro. Even i will be voting for AN in the upcoming EP elections, and am disgusted at the way this article was written and the picture chosen. I hope this cheap propoganda has the opposite effect on your readers than that intended.

@A. Magro
I agree with you on the subject of probaganda, rather the very short comment than the spare ribs place. Had it been Gonzi or Joseph Muscat talking, it would be front pace.
My problem with AN is that they do nothing to show what they are proposing except for migration. Honestly, I have no idea what their beliefs and proposals are on other issues

Yes – this time AN may make it (getting VOTES of three digits number)
Being anti-immigrants does not constitute or qualify for MEP.

Ghalkemm it-Times ghazlet tirredikola ritratt bl- Smoked Ribs u ggib 3 sentenzi biss fuq din l-ahbar,hija bizzejjed ghalija biex il- Vot tighi din id-darba mill PL jmur lilhom .

My vote will be going to AN. I have given up hope on the party PN that I have always voted for. However I find absolutely nothing from the Labour Camp (PL) that I find attractive. Same old bla bla. None of the big parties are taking seriously the national crisis that is hitting our small island and the future that it holds for our children. We are being inundated with illegal immigrants and all you do is just pay lip service.
I have been bitten too many times to fall for any more bla bla bla!

AN is the only party worthy of the votes of those who have Malta's interest at heart. The others are just EU puppets.
I am sure that there was more to report than the 2 measly, derogatory sentences we have here.

John Portelli you are recommending people to vote and not to absatain, with the same breath you recommend every one to absatain. Writing messages on a ballot paper equals abstention!

I'm voting AN also.
Switzerlands (or not) in the Mediterranean was not successful, and with the PN, I am not sure if this island is Malta or a failed Iceland in the EU, or mayebe in the Mediterranean or better still in Africa.

John Portelli
You are correct.
However, those who still feel that they want to send a message to their parties without voting for other parties can vote for their respective party candidates and then write their message on their ballot paper.
That is the only way our politicants and political parties understand, not by abstaining from voting.

They will definately get my vote, with all that is going on it is imperative that we have someone who has at heart Malta's National interest representing us in the EU.

I am sure the press conference was more than just that. Why are not details not included? Why are you failing readers into not presenting all the voices? I cannot understand this attitude. Immigration concerned parties are present everywhere there is this problem, and they are given ample media space. But the conference tackled also other issues.
I am sorry, this is a very paternalistic attitude. And journalistically immature, I might say.
(but of course, this will also be censored...)
