Sexual abuses on children

In 2007 the police received 42 reports of sexual abuses on children, and procedures were started on 38 of them. Three other cases were still being investigated, and one case was given up. Four cases were decided, and the defendant in another case died.

Four cases were decided, and the defendant in another case died. Justice Minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici told Carmelo Abela (PL) in reply to a parliamentary question that in 2008 there had been 36 reports, procedures had started in all of them and two had been decided by the courts.

No appeal had been lodged by the prosecution or Attorney General's office.
