There was some unusual excitement at the second division football game between Gharb and St Laurence yesterday with the police storming into the dressing rooms at half time and taking away Nigerian player Dominic Matthias, whose visa had expired.

Dominic Matthias has been in Malta for sometime and used to play with Ghajnsielem, before being taken on by Gharb.

It is understood that the police had informed the Gharb Club that the Nigerian's visa had expired but they opted to play him just the same.

The game ended in a draw with each team scoring once.
