Krishna played Melita in the final game from the first round of the Winter League last weekend.

Malcolm Crabbe and Joy Ghoseroy opened the batting for Melita. The latter was the first to go, being bowled for nine runs. Andy Lenard was next in and next to go. He was run out with only 10 runs to show.

Justin Brooke joined Crabbe at the crease and the partnership was going on nicely until Brooke tried to hit a floated ball from Faraaz Bhatti, missed the ball and was stumped. Brooke made 29 runs.

Crabbe's was the next wicket to fall, being trapped lbw by Kevin Krishna for a well crafted 34 which included four 4s. Anthony Roberts remained not out with 19 runs. Colin Willis scored nine, Tony Slater two and Nathan Brimmer did not worry the scorers.

John Rusher was the other not out batsman with no runs as Melita managed 131 from their allotted overs.

Kevin Krishna was the main wicket-taker for his team with three wickets. John Grima, the wicket-keeper, also had a good day, taking a catch and two stumpings.

The Krishna team only lost one wicket before making the required runs with 14 balls to spare.

Nowell Khosla and John Grima opened the batting and that of Khosla was the only wicket to fall. He made 35 runs including two 4s and a 6. Grima top-scored with 53 not out. Roberts was the only wicket-taker for Melita.

Krishna earned seven points for their win while Melita have not opened their account as yet.

Next Saturday, Krishna play Marsa at noon.
