Sailor flown to hospital
A 27-year old Filipino sailor was last night flown to hospital by helicopter after suffering severe fever while on a tanker off Malta.
The AFM said it received an urgent MEDEVAC request at 11.55 p.m. from the Marshall Islands-registered motor-tanker Overseas Sifnos which was 14 nautical miles off Grand Harbour.
The sailor was evacuated by an Italian Air Force AB-212 helicopter flown by a joint Italo-Maltese crew.
