The National Commission, Persons with Disability, has filed judicial protests against Gozo Channel and Banif Bank over lack of access saying that they were discriminating against people with disabilities.

The Commission said the Banif Bank branch of St Julians lacked wheelchair access despite this being a Malta Environment Planning Authority development permit condition. The bank's head office also lacked such access, the commission said.

The commission said that, despite various meetings and discussions, the two sides could not come to a compromise.

It also added that, despite agreement reached with Gozo Channel on procedures for use of the ferries, including the publication of an information booklet, the booklet had not been published.
