The Spire and St John's
As the controversy over the proposed extension to St John's Museum continues, the promoters of the project would do well to read William Golding's novel The Spire. It should help them understand why there is such strong opposition to what they want to do.

I agree with you Joseph that reading The Spire by William Golding may indeed make these people sit up and think. The only difference as I see it is that in The Spire Dean Jocelin had a vision from God telling him that he had been chosen to build a spire on his Cathedral. Since Jesus threw the moneylenders out of the church, and the Foundation amongst other things want to build ticketing booths and souvenir stalls on the graves of the knights; somehow I don't think their vision comes from the same source!
