Obituary
AZZOPARDI. On January 29, CARMEN of Sliema, aged 66, passed away peacefully at home. She leaves to mourn her loss her brother Professor Joe and his wife Marilise, her sisters Monica, Maryann and her wife Charles, her nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2 p.m. for Stella Maris parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery (upper gate). No flowers by request, but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. A prayer is solicited. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
BORG BONELLO - On January 31 at Mater Dei Hospital, VIRGINIA, aged 86, passed away peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Joseph, her daughter Maria and her husband Paul Falzon, her sons Benny and his wife Lilian and Fr Manwel, Augustinian, her brothers Nicholas and his wife Sunta and Carmelo, husband of the late Carmela, her husband's sisters Helen of Australia, Mary of Canada and sister-in-law Margaret, widow of Carmelo, her grandchildren Dr Mark Anthony Falzon, Annabelle Nickisch, Maximillian Borg Bonello and Claudine Coreschi, their families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.30 p.m. for St Augustine's parish church, Valletta, where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 2.15 p.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Holy Family Home, Naxxar, will be greatly appreciated. Lord grant her eternal rest.
MIFSUD. On January 30, at Villa Messina, Rabat, PHYLLIS (NINNY), née Bonnici, widow of Michael, formerly of Pietà, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Edwin and his wife Mary, of Australia, Emma and her husband Emmanuel Azzopardi, Rose, widow of her son John, Henry and his wife Marcelle and Tony and his wife Jeanette, her grandchildren Ronald John, Louise Marie, Sandro, Michelle, Karl, David, Daniel, Noel, Reuben, Aaron and Rebecca, Kurt, Ryan and Dean, her great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Mass praesente cadavere will be said at Fatima Sanctuary, Guardamangia, today at 2 p.m. Donations to Dar tal-Providenza will be highly appreciated.
ZAMMIT. On January 30, at Zammit Clapp Hospital, MARY née Cutajar, aged 83, of Valletta, beloved wife of Carmelo, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She is deeply mourned by her sons Dr Michael Zammit and his wife Maria, Dr Ray Zammit and his wife Mariella, her beloved grandchildren Gabriel and Benjamin, Thomas and Klara, her brother Alfred Cutajar of the US, nephews, nieces, in-laws and friends. The funeral leaves Zammit Clapp Hospital today at 1.30 p.m. for St Paul's Shipwreck church, Valletta, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at St Mary's Ward at Zammit Clapp Hospital. Big Band concert
The Sliema Youth Big Band, conducted by Sigmund Mifsud, will present a concert of lively music at the University's Sir Temi Zammit Auditorium on February 9 at 8 p.m.
Singers Nadine Axisa, Daniel Cauchi (Big Band Brothers), Vittorio Gauci, Jessica Cachia and Ludwig Galea will interpret a number of popular songs and the band will perform versions of Verdi's Anvil Chorus from Il Trovatore, Glenn Miller's American Patrol, Soul Bossa Nova, Zorba's Dance, Nino Rota's The Godfather Theme and a rock and roll medley, among others.

Trenching works
Enemalta Corporation will be carrying out trenching works along the upper part of Sa Maison Road, Floriana, and Notre Dame Ditch, corner with Sa Maison Road, down from the police headquarters, from today until further notice. While this road will remain open to traffic, motorists are advised to proceed with caution.
