Fire fighters assist in heavy task

Fire fighters were called to assist in an unusual situation on Saturday, when a man hurt himself in a bath on the eighth floor of the Diplomat Hotel in Sliema.

Because of his weight - about 150 kilograms - paramedics could not carry the middle-aged foreigner onto a gurney, so they called fire fighters who used a tower ladder to transport the patient to a waiting ambulance through the hotel balcony.

Sources said that when the hotel's employees found out about the man they immediately called a doctor who suggested that the man be hospitalised.
