This means that each car is getting less than €2 for the maintenance of the roads. And it is guaranteed that, since each pothole has its price, quite a few are going to be left as such, i.e. potholes.

I feel this is like the old 1980s budget when we used to hear about miserly reductions in foodstuffs. And, just to wipe the dust off another memory: In the 1990s we were told that the licence was going up so that the roads would be upgraded. What happened to that money? Tough luck, Maltese drivers.
