Seven Maltese photographers, headed by the president of the Malta Institute of Professional Photographers, Kevin Casha, recently returned from London after attending the annual Convention of the Societies, attended by around 12,500 delegates.

The six-day event included a series of master classes by some of the top names in the photography business and a comprehensive trade show in two central London hotel suites.

Casha sat on the jury panel of the prestigious 20x16 print competition and also formed part of the mentoring team set up to advise and guide newcomers to photography.

Competing among 16,500 international entries, four Maltese photographers received six awards. Three of these went to Joe Smith, and included International Environmental Portrait Photographer of the Year as well as International Fine Art Photographer of the Year.

Casha was declared International Fashion and Beauty Photographer of the year.

Scerri won International Pictorial Photographer of the Year, and International Press and PR Photographer of the Year was awarded to Sergio Muscat.
