The operators of four local casinos have filed a judicial protest complaiing about the lack of regulation of irregular gaming outlets.
The protest was filed by the operator of the Oracle Casino and the Casino at Portomaso, the operator of the Dragonara Casino and the operator of the Casino di Venezia against the Minister for Finance and the Chairman of the Gaming Authority, calling on them to take action against illegal gaming establishments.
They said that a number of establishments had opened in Malta and were operating in an unregulated way.
These establishments were not governed by regulations on the probability of winning and did not pay 40% tax on gaming, as was the case for casinos.
Such actions, the casinos said, were causing them damages, to the detriment of their employees.
