Obituary

BUTTIGIEG De PIRO. On January 27, at St James Hospital, Sliema, ALICE, Marquesa Buttigieg De Piro, née Pace, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of our Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Anthony, her sister Lilian Simpson, her nephews and nieces, cousins, all other relatives and friends. Mass praesente cadavere will be said tomorrow, Friday, at Naxxar parish church at 2.30 p.m. Donations to the Dar Tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi will be appreciated.

PACE. On January 28, MARY, aged 75, from Attard, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Alfred, her daughter Lucia and her fiancé Stefan, her brothers and their respective wives, her in-laws and their respective husbands, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2 p.m. for the Attard parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment in the family grave at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Żebbuġ. No flowers by request but donations to the Dar tal-Providenza will be appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors.

Lyceum past students in anniversary events

The Association of Lyceum Past Students (ALPS) will be celebrating its 15th anniversary with a year-long programme of events.

The late founder and President Guido Saliba, who was a teacher to thousands of past students, realised his dream of creating the association on March 20, 1994.

To mark the event, the Council of Administration has put together a programme that will touch on the social, cultural, sportive and philanthropic aspects of the association.

The activities will get under way on the March 20 with a Mass celebrated by well-known alumni, including the Auxiliary Bishop of Tirana in Albania George Frendo, Mgr Philip Calleja, Mgr Lawrence Gatt, ALPS spiritual director Fr William Bartolo and Fr Paul Pace, the recently elected head of the Jesuits community in Malta. The Lyceum owes its origin to the Jesuit Order.
