Where are the traffic managers?
Does Malta have any traffic managers and/or planners? If so, they are definitely conspicuous by their absence at the traffic junction in Msida, just by the Labour Party club, which by anyone's standards must be classed as one of the busiest on the island.
I have written on this subject before, but apart from the occasional, extra policeman on duty - and who sometimes has the brains to stop the traffic wanting to travel up Rue D'Argens and into Sliema, from crossing four lanes of cars coming from Birkirkara or Regional Road - nothing else has been done.
I will reiterate that the Transport Authority should extend the centre strip railing of the inner lane next to the roundabout, at least as far as the zebra crossing, so that only cars coming from Pieta and wanting to go to Valletta and points south can make use of it.
Any other traffic wanting to go to Gżira or Sliema should make use of the traffic lights.
Let's not wait for a serious accident to happen before some sort of traffic management is brought into force.

Management of traffic? Here, in Malta? Are you joking? I'd sooner bet on my grandma winning the 100m sprint Olympic gold medal.
With all due respect to Mr Cocks, his idea to extend that centre strip is as old as the day after the strip itself was made. And no rocket science was needed to hatch this idea; just common sense.
And Mr Cocks has overlooked one strong point: Nobody gives a toss, mate. Sorry.

Mr Cocks - Malta has plenty of planners and many other professionals. The problem is they're useless. A look around the infrastructure of the place is enough to convince you that this little island has had a series of governments that have been just as useless in achieving a reasonable standard of infrastructure that can serve the people for a few years. This in a Country which is rightly proud of the increase in University graduates over the last decade or so. But the question is how good are these graduates - as looking around there is hardly a sector who is not in a mess and akin to third world standards. And Governments of all colours come and go and nothing seems to change or improve.
