An Opposition motion calling on the government to withdraw its support for the underground extension of the museum of St John's Co-Cathedral will be debated in Parliament on February 11, the House Business Committee agreed today.

When the subject was raised at the meeting of the committee by Opposition whip Joe Mizzi, the Leader of the House, Tonio Borg, said the government had never said it did not want to debate the motion.

What it had insisted upon was that the debate should be held on an agreed date, as had been recent practice, and that the programme agreed in the House Business Committee should be followed.

The committee also decided that on Monday the House will start debating a procedural motion which will change the timetable of the regular sittings of the House so that Wednesday sittings will start being held between 10 a.m. and 1.30 p.m.

The House Business Committee will also meet on February 11 to fix a date for the debate on an opposition motion to strike down the new utility tariffs.
