Maltapost at fault yet again
Another wave of complaints about Maltapost seems to have hit the newspapers again these last few days. This includes my two cases.
On November 28 I posted a larger than normal envelope containing some 12 copies of important documents at one of the post boxes in Mosta at about 6.45 a.m. They were addressed to a particular law firm in Valletta. Seeing that these documents were not acknowledged I inquired, only to be told that the documents were never received. The lawyer also checked with his colleagues in case the envelope was left on someone else's desk by mistake. All this proved fruitless. My letter was not delivered, presumably lost.
I had to go through the hassle of compiling fresh copies of documents and posting them under registered mail. Thank God, this time, the documents were safely delivered.
A few days after filing a written complaint to Maltapost, I was informed by Customer Care that my case "is being investigated". Up to the time of writing, I am still unaware of the outcome of investigations.
I feel it is not fair to have to send letters under registered mail in order to ensure their safe delivery. This costs extra money and time lost queuing up after people paying their bills at post offices.
Another thing which upset me relating to Maltapost was a letter addressed to me at my old address of eight years ago. The letter was returned to sender and marked "moved".
My daughter and I have been living in our present address (also in Mosta) for the past eight years. There are only the two of us bearing this same surname in Mosta and we receive constant mail daily.
Was the non-delivery of my letter the fault of the Sorting Office or someone's lack of efficiency?

Here's a nice story that's in progress.
I have ordered a very expensive package (€2000+) from the UK with a 48 hour delivery time; that was a week ago.
Parcelforce UK are swearing to me that the package arrived in Malta days ago, but upon calling Maltapost 3 million times, they still have no clue where this package is.
Who am I to believe now?

to Herbert Guillaumier ...
with all due respect, the bold notice on your package addressed a postman,
and since a postwoman delivered, it was duly ignored ..

This may not be fully the responsibility of Maltapost but we are still awaiting a parcel containing Christmas presents\cards etc

Same as Mannes Calleja, sent a packet to the UK with the AR card, obviously at extra cost, so that the reply that has been delivered is sent back to sender, but never arrived from beginning September 2008, asked for refund as this service was not received by myself, but I got nothing not even by complaining directly to Ms Micallef, the Head of Customer Service. They just told me that it is at the mercy of the British Postal Service to make sure that the AR is returned to sender. COMMITTED TO DELIVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maltapost, you must change this joke of a motto you have

Similar to the other correpondents I too am immensely dissatisfied with the services of Maltapost-all of which have become immeasurably compounded and exacerbated since privatisation.I have persistently expressed my concerns in this regard to Maltapost itself(a totally ineffective mission I dare say as they hardly ,if ever, answer)and to the regulator of Maltapost- The MALTA COMMUNICATIONS AUTHORITY(MCA) who appear in cahorts with one another ,for both of these entities can ever inexplicably find anything remiss or cuplable! They perenially cite surveys expressing high-levels of customer satisfaction and provide easily concoctable percentage results from an imaginary number of respondents to such statistics-I say imaginary as the numbers asked for their input or the total number of respondents to such surveys are never revealed. Please direct your concerns to the MCA who are purportedly in place to monitor and scrutinise the actions,or lack thereof,of Maltapost.By such action MCA may finally realise that I am not a voice in the wilderness expressing such concerns against the massive and unaccountable decline in Maltapost's standards and services-unaccountable that is except that is where their profits are concerned, which increase in directly opposite proportionality to their services.

Though there may be areas where maltapost can improve, I think many ppl are being impressed by what's going on in th emedia.
All I can say is that for much less than what I can pay in othe rEU countries, I get a very good service.
What's more, I have bulky stuff being delivered right to my door at postal rates, and at no extra charge. Better than courier (I had sent some documents to London, UK by a reknown courier, who decided to leave them in the addressee's letterbox!), whereas I regualarly send for car parts from UK and USA and they are promprly delivered to my home, and by a very rt and polite person.
The only problem I had was a postal item whcih apparently was sent by the UK dispatcher by mistajke to the USA instead of malta!
One thing is for sure, and that's ppl are becoming more and more aware of the service being provided and any mistakes/shortcomings are very conspicuous. And this is a warnign to all companies in Malta.
But...for goodness's sake...does The Times need to publish every single complaint this lady from mosta sends???

I once ordered an expensive item for my car from the UK, and after 2 weeks still nothing. I contacted the retailer who gave me the tracking number and helped me a lot. The Royal Mail confirmed that the package had arrived to Malta after 3 days. I complained to Maltapost and they answered that I can't file a complaint before a month from the date the package was sent! After about 4 weeks the package was delivered to me. The box was almost ripped off and it was evident that the package had suffered some hits. Thankfully the seller had wrapped it safely and the content wasn't damaged!
Packages from Europe are delivered within 3-4 days. In fact in some case they do arrive within that time limit, but most of the time they are delivered by Maltapost after 7 days.

The Parchment Craft Magazine has just been delivered to me. It was wrapped in clear plastic and close to the address ran the words "POSTMAN PLEASE DO NOT BEND" in BLOCK, BOLD CAPITALS. As usual my magazine was bent in two and forced into the letter box. The postwoman must be illiterate!

Yesterday I collected a letter addressed to my next door neighbour from a distance some 100 metres away from the residence. The postwoman on duty delivering our mail is, to say the least, very careless.

Cant you see that Maltapost is trying to induce the public to go for register mail then the usual method. It makes more profit. I too have had mail lost.

Regarding the last point, it is definitely not Maltapost's fault. The postperson is only expected to deliver letters to the address indicated on the envelope. He/she is not paid to investigate where the addressee is actually living.

The number of complaints against Maltapost is reaching alarming proportions. Many, many letters, correctly addressed are being delivered to the wrong persons. Surely the authorities should look into the matter.
