Climate change strategy

Żminijetna - Voice of the Left disapproves of the attitude recently displayed in Parliament regarding the motion for a Bill on climate change.

This motion, presented by Leo Brincat on behalf of the Labour Party, enjoyed the support of many NGOs and AD. We believe this vote is a vote against legislating on a climate change Bill.

Żminijietna criticises the lack of representation of environmental and civil society NGOs on the group of experts who prepared the recommendations on climate change. No NGO representative forms part of this group. There is a definite void of contributions from the environmental sector, without representation from NGOs such as Friends of the Earth Malta.

We believe that the ministry and the government should review the representation on the group of experts to include civil society.
