Leave it to the Almighty

In the news item entitled Couple Seek To Thank Judge Who Jailed Killer (January 24), the stupid and funny statement that for every bad woman there are 500 bad men made a farce of the couple's efforts at showing their feelings.

It is clearly unfounded and, in any case, the term "bad" would have to be defined before any such statistics are collected. Besides, judgments about who is good and who is not must be left to the Almighty.

We condemn bad actions (like murder); but we have no right to label anybody as "bad", unless we want the condemnation to backfire on us.
