I wonder what is the point of upgrading or displacing the Ghadira road, when the real problem with traffic in the north of Malta starts at Xemxija Bay going on to Mellieha. This road is already a bottleneck, and it is bound to get worse when the planned development of Xemxija materlialises.

It would be more sensible to tackle this stretch of road. My suggestion is to build an elevated road (possibly starting at St Paul's Bay bypass) across Pwales Valley and Mizieb up to and intersecting Mellieha bypass.

Apart from easing the congested road at Xemxija, such a project, which is likely to attract EU funding, would also limit the environmental and infrastructural impact at Ghadira. It would also reduce vehicle emissions as a result of less congestion, as well as create a scenic road.
