Wilson's team tournament at TCK

The Tennis Club Kordin (TCK) have just hosted the first tournament for teams sponsored by Wilson. The competition was played over three weekends.

Four teams took part and from the outset it was clear that the competition was evenly balanced. In fact, after the opening two encounters, the four teams were still neck and neck.

Team C, of Martin Zammit, led the table with 13 points followed by Team D, of Clint Cassar, and Team B, of Manuel Bonello with 12 points each. Team A, of Anna Buhagiar, occupied the fourth place with 11 points.

With all the teams standing a chance to finish top, the final match was to be decisive.

The encounter between Team C and Team D was very close. By the fourth rubber, Team C was leading 5-3. Team D then won the Mixed Doubles C category bringing the result to five-all.

At the same time, on Court Two, Buhagiar's team was leading Team B 8-2. However, Team C won the sixth and final rubber to gain another two points and clinch the Wilson's Shield.

Final positions: Team C 20 points; Team A 19; Team D 17; Team B 16.
