The rain which has fallen persistently for the past days has filled the Chadwick lakes in Wied il-Qlejgha, transforming the place into a scenic beauty.

The bad weather has caused flooding and a number of accidents, the most serious involving a traffic policeman who crashed into an electricity pole in Floriana.

The police this afternoon called on the public to avoid Msida, Birkirkara and Qormi and use alternative routes because of flooding.

They appealed to drivers to be careful to avoid accidents.
