How to take the mickey out of art
I'm not sure if Karl Consiglio was serious or not when he got all excited about David Cerny's official EU artwork to mark the Czech Republic's EU Presidency (January 20). If he was serious I'm amazed how he managed to mistake Mr Cerny's taking the mickey out of the rest of Europe (but not the Czech Republic) for serious modern art.

Mr Cerny's work was equally intentioned to take the mickey out of Europe as indeed to take the mickey out of serious art, and that is evident to anyone who has read the captions to each piece.
It is quite amusing watching pompous and indignant dictocrats clamouring for its ban, opposed by equally pompous and indignant arty-farties proclaiming that it is great art.
My respect to Mr Cerny, whethere a great artist or not.

I know why Mr. Busuttil thought the work of art was rubbish. It's because he doesn't know how to laugh at himself and his nation so he took offence to it.

Instead of belittling other people's opinions, why don't you offer some serious constructive criticism and tell us exactly why you think Cerny's work is rubbish?
