Obituary
AQUILINA. On January 21, at Mater Dei Hospital, SIMONE, née Griscti, aged 52, surrounded by her loved ones and comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her irreplaceable loss her children Lee and Elaine, Gail and Gag, her precious grandchildren Emma and Lea, her sisters Antoinette and Michael A. Clews, Carmen and Alfred Filletti and Jackie and Jude Cassar, Alex, her aunt Rose and Alfred Camoin, nephews and nieces, numerous relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 2 p.m. for Naxxar parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
MIFSUD. Suddenly, on January 17, ROSE, née Borg (midwife), of Victoria, Gozo, aged 46, went to meet the Lord. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Ġorġ, her sons Mario and Reno, her beloved parents Maria and Ġorġ, her in-laws, aunts and uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Republic Street, Victoria, today at 3.45 p.m. for St George's Basilica where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 4 p.m., followed by interment at St Mary's Cemetery, Xewkija. No flowers by request but donations to the Arka Foundation, Għajnsielem, Gozo, would be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
PREVI. On January 20, at Mater Dei Hospital, GEORGE of Paola, aged 62, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Rita, his children Ralph and Maria, his in-laws Maria and her husband Emanuel, Jimmy and his wife Lisa, Jane and her husband Charlie, Catherine and her husband Tony, Victor and his wife Rose, Gertie the widow of his brother Edward and his nephew Andre and nieces Pamela, Jacqueline, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8 a.m. for Christ the King parish church, Paola, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar Nazareth, Żejtun, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Generous bikers
The producers of the television programme On D Road will be donating €7,000 to SOS Animals, of which €2,562.84 were collected from the bikers that participated in a charity ride last month, €408.52 from shops, €3,296.70 donated via SMS and €731.94 from Borg Cardona Co. Ltd.
The motorcycle clubs that participated in the charity ride were Bike Boyz Malta, Rebel Riders, Nuts Motor Cycle Club, Raw Riders, Knights Motor Club, Historic Motorcycle Club, Riders Association Triumph and the Falcons Motorcycle Club.
String music
Classic guitarist Evan Plumpton will be playing a selection of works together with an ensemble of strings during the next concert in the Friday Evening Concert series, organised by Barocco Cultural Events. The concert will be held on January 30 at 7.30 p.m. at the Sagrestia Vault at Valletta Waterfront. Helping hand
The Helping Hands Foundation has raised just over €20,000 through its Family Magazine and has donated them to Caritas. The 19th edition of the magazine was dedicated to Caritas and its services and highlighted the problems associated with drug abuse and its effects on both users and their families.

The Council for Culture and the Arts is compiling information on any events being held in the different localities for carnival. St Paul's Bay concert
The St Paul's Bay local council will be holding a concert to mark the Pauline Year and the Shipwreck of St Paul. St Paul's Band Club, Sine Macula choir and tenor Joseph Aquilina will take part in the concert which will be held on February 9 at 7.30 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows parish church, in St Paul's Bay.
Trenching works
Vodafone will today be carrying out trenching works along Triq Dawret il-Gudja, Gudja, from the junction with Triq Ħal-Tarxien to the corner with Triq il-Gudja, until further notice. Traffic will not be affected.
Geographical Society AGM
The Geographical Society will be holding its annual general meeting on February 26 at 6.30 p.m. at the British Legion Hall in Melita Street, Valletta.
