A sales assistant has been charged with defrauding her employer of more than €20,000 after allegedly keeping customers' deposits for herself.

Martina Fricke, a 43-year-old German national who lives in Malta, was granted bail against a personal guarantee of €5,000. A deposit was not given as Ms Fricke declared in court that she had no funds to pay for it.
