Customs confiscate alcohol, cigarettes
Inspections by the Customs Department at several commercial establishments towards the end of last week led to the confiscation of cigarettes and alcohol on which excise tax had not been paid, the department said.
It said that, in all, it confiscated 80 bottles of alcohol and 8,385 cigarettes from a shop in San Ġwann and clubs in Għaxaq.
Investigations are continuing.

The Customs Department is the most successful department at the moment, a clear success story when one thinks that its officers are among the least paid around the island. I hope the Government will keep this in mind when dealing a new agreement with these fellas.
