Receiving the yearly statement of our savings account from HSBC Bank, we got the shock of our life.

Saving some money has been made next to impossible. Every three months the bank has taken the amount of €9.32, equivalent to a yearly €37.28. Why? Just because we have an account there.

They called it a minimum balance fee. I call it theft. In fact, I question if it is legal. We actually owe the bank money as they have taken it all and we are still paying the fees.

Costs of closing down the account: €10.

Total loss from the account: €47.28.

I would have preferred to donate that money to a charity!
