A new coin-operated system for the use of baggage trolleys has come into force at Malta International Airport. Trolleys may be used against a deposit of €1, inserted into a mechanism which has been installed on each trolley, and is refundable once the trolley is returned to the designated bases.

For this purpose, 16 dedicated trolley bays have been installed in strategic places around the air terminal to retrieve or return the baggage trolleys. The purpose of this new system is to increase the efficiency of the trolley service while still providing it free of charge.

The trolley retrieval and return bays are found in the check-in area, arrival hall, main car park, coach park and car-hire park.

For the convenience of passengers arriving from non-euro zones money exchange machines are available in the baggage reclaim area.
