'Substantial progress' made in MUT-government meeting

The MUT this afternoon reported 'substantial progress' during a three-hour meeting it had with Education Division officials on the “supply categories”.

The union said another meeting is to be held tomorrow week.

Today's meeting discussed issues concerning the implementation of clauses in a July 2007 reform agreement concerning kindergarten assistants and learning support assistants.

The MUT said it is awaiting clarifications from the Management and Personnel Office and documentation from the Education directorates. A draft document is being discussed with a view for a final settlement.

The union thanked Education Minister Dolores Cristina for registering her intent to conclude pending issues.

The supply categories include supply teachers, supply kindergarten assistants and supply learning support assistants.
