Abela steps down from Labour, Meusac

President-in-waiting George Abela resigned from the Malta-EU Steering and Action Committee and from the Labour Party in view of his nomination as the next head of state.

In a statement released yesterday, Dr Abela said he had asked Labour leader Joseph Muscat to replace him as the party representative at Meusac and that he was also stepping down as a member of the party.

Dr Abela thanked Dr Muscat and Meusac head Vanni Xuereb for the trust they had shown in him.
