A business delegation of some 70 people will accompany President Eddie Fenech Adami during a state visit to Poland later this month.
Foreign Minister Tonio Borg said this morning that the business delegation will be Malta’s biggest so far and reflected interest in developing trade relations with Poland.
The members of the trade delegations will represent some 60 local firms. They will be in Poland between January 25-27. A number of activities have been organised by Malta Enterprise in order to enable them to get in touch with Polish counterparts.
“This record number of business persons on an official visit to Poland at a time of international financial crisis demonstrates the ability of Maltese entrepreneurs to transform challenges into opportunities. This is indeed a clear sign that Malta, within the EU and in the eurozone is looking for new business,” Dr Borg said.
He praised Malta Enterprise, the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry, the GRTU, Finance Malta and the Malta Employers Association for working together to make this visit a success.
Malta Enterprise chairman Alan Camilleri said the agency was intensifying its efforts to assist local companies in their internationalisation initiatives, both by means of schemes intended for individual initiatives and also group events like this one.
Another business delegation will go to Prague in March.
